Born 1951. Professor in water resources at the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS). MSc (CENG) 1976, Technical University of Denmark. Former employments include chief hydrologist and head of research at Danish Hydraulic Institute (DHI) and associate professor at the Technical University of Denmark. Board member of International Research School of Water Resources (FIVA) and member of Danish Academy of Technical Sciences (ATV). Has coordinated two major EU funded research projects, and is presently coordinating two major projects funded by the Danish Strategic Research Council. Co-ordinator/team leader of several multi-disciplinary international research and capacity building projects in Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa. Major research interests: distributed catchment modeling including groundwater/surface water interaction, quality assurance and uncertainty assessment in the modeling process. Published 68 journal papers in ISI registered international scientific journals with 1600 ISI citations (h-index = 21). Additionally, published more than 60 peer reviewed conference papers and book chapters with more than 450 ISI citations.
